Wikipedia ha agradecido a los más de 162 millones de usuariosque visitaron su página en inglés este miércoles el apoyo a su particularbloqueo a la Ley SOPA. La ciberenciclopedia, junto con otras grandes empresas de Internet como Google o incluso la Fundación Mozilla, se unieron al 'blackout' propuesto por la organización sin ánimo de lucro Fight for the Future contra la ley antipiratería estadounidense. Internet se levantó contra la que consideran una ley injusta, la Ley SOPA, y los usuarios respondieron a este "acto injusto". La enciclopedia online Wikipedia, en su versión en inglés, no funcionó en todo el día del miércoles como protesta a esta ley. Durante la jornada, más de 162 millones de usuarios visitaron la "página negra" de Wikipedia y se unieron a su protesta. Por ello, este jueves la ciberenciclopedia quiera agradecer ese apoyo.
Bajo el título "El apagón de Wikipedia ha acabado. Y tú has hablado", la enciclopedia más famosa de Internet ha dado las gracias a aquellos usuarios que apoyaron la causa de una Internet libre y abierta. "Para nosotros, esto no es por dinero. Se trata de conocimientos. Como comunidad de autores, editores, fotógrafos y programadores invitamos a todos a compartir y construir sobre nuestro trabajo", asegura.
Por este motivo, la misión que quiere cumplir Wikipedia es "involucrar" a los usuarios para "documentar todo el conocimiento humano y para que esté disponible para toda la humanidad". Además también resaltan que al equipo de Wikipedia también les interesan los derechos de autor porque ellos también son autores.
Además recuerdan que pese a la protesta la Ley PIPA y la Ley SOPA "no están muertas, están esperando entre las sombras". Sin embargo, Internet ha permitido que la creatividad, el conocimiento y la innovación continúe brillando y aseguran que aunque la Wikipedia se oscureciera este miércoles, los usuarios ha "dirigido su energía" para protegerla.
NO A LA LEY SOPA
Este jueves las páginas que llevaron a cabo la protesta contra la Ley SOPA han vuelto a la normalidad. Wikipedia, Google, la plataforma de blogs Wordpress y Firefox, el navegador web de la Fundación Mozilla ofrecen de nuevo su habitual aspecto, al igual que las webs de muchos blogs y diarios online.
Pero algunas no han abandonado del todo la protesta. Además de Wikipedia, que ha dedicado una pequeña parte de su página para agradecer el apoyo a los usuarios, Wordpress sigue conservando una pequeña banda negra en la parte derecha de su página con el mensaje 'Stop Censorship' ('Parar la censura').
Ante la acogida de la protesta, algunos legisladores estadounidenseshan retirado su apoyo a la Ley SOPA. De esta forma, las campañas en contra por parte de algunas empresas de Internet, y el apoyo por parte de los proveedores de contenido seguirán produciéndose en todo EE.UU., ya que la votación de la Ley SOPA en el Senado estadounidense está prevista para el próximo 24 de enero
